Nina-MatsumotosNina Matsumotoさん (2D Character Animation Graduate)

"My heart was set on doing comics, but since I couldn't find a full-time program for comic book art, I took the full-time animation program at VanArts instead. Though my goal was not necessarily animation, I still learned valuable lessons about character designand layout, and the life drawing course was most helpful of all.
After graduating, a picture I did of The Simpsons in my style circulated online and caught the attention of Bongo Comics (who publishes comics for Simpsons, Futurama, etc) and Del Rey Manga, who both offered me jobs. I've now published two volumes of my original manga series 'Yokaiden' and I do pencils for Simpsons comics on a regular basis, both in the traditional style and my own manga style.”

“After graduating from the Visual Effects Diploma Program at VanArts, I worked as a Modeler at Electronic Arts Canada on the titles Need for Speed and Skate 2, then I moved on to Ubisoft as a Shader Artist and Senior Concept Artist. The knowledge and contacts I made at VanArts were a great help in launching my career, and I was really impressed with the programs’ focus on production.”
