First thing don’t be shy, make a group of friends. My favorite was trip to Banff a small town right in the middle of rocky mountains, great place to hike, amazing sights to see and lot of animals and you can see nature and feel the fresh air. one thing you must try is a poutine, it is Canadian favorite food.
Calgary is very exciting place, my message would be for new students, not be shy and talk as much as you can while you are studying, Calgary does not have many Japanese students therefore you get more practice with English. I really like people in Calgary, they are very caring and friendly, my homestay family was no different as they made me feel right at home.
